Carla Baumann PortraitThe Carla G. Baumann Nursing Scholarship (CGB Scholarship) is open to graduates of BSN nursing programs at Eastern Kentucky University or Berea College. This scholarship recognizes high achieving nurses who aspire to further their education in a post-licensure program. Madison County Health Department will award two scholarships of $1,000 annually to qualified applicants.

We are currently accepting applications for the Fall '17 scholarships. The deadline is 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 12, 2017. Please see below for application instructions.

Guidelines for the CGB Scholarship

  1. In order to be eligible for the CGB scholarship, applicants must be a BSN graduate from Eastern Kentucky University or Berea College.

  2. Applicants must be currently enrolled or enrolling for Fall 2017 in a graduate or higher level nursing program. Examples of such nursing programs include a master’s degree in nursing(MSN), advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) or a doctor of nursing practice (DNP).

  3. Completed applications must be received by Madison County Health Department by email or hard copy, no later than 5:00PM on Friday, May 12, 2017.  Applications should be addressed to the following:

  1. Scholarship award decisions will be made by the CGB Scholarship committee. Notifications will be sent no later than the last Friday in May. Scholarship awards will be made to recipients' university via arrangement with the university's accounting department by the end of August.

A completed application consists of:

  1. A completed CGB Scholarship cover page (download one here);

  2. A five hundred word essay describing your interest and experience in public health and your plans for future public health nursing endeavors;

  3. Letters of support by two members of the nursing faculty within your current nursing program;

  4. An OFFICIAL COPY of your current program transcripts.
