Carla G Baumann Scholarship

To protect, promote and improve the health of our community

Carla Baumann PortraitThe Carla G. Baumann Scholarship (CGB Scholarship) is open to graduates of the nursing and public health programs at Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) and Berea College and current students in those programs at EKU. It is designed to recognize high-achieving students who aspire to further their education in a graduate level or higher nursing or public health program. Two scholarships of $1000.00 will be awarded annually to qualified applicants by the Madison County Health Department.

Guidelines for the CGB Scholarship

  1. To be eligible for the CGB scholarship, an applicant must be enrolled in a graduate level or higher nursing or public health program such as a master’s degree in nursing, advanced practice registered nurse, doctor of nursing practice, Masters of Public Health program, and so forth.

  2. Completed applications must be received by Madison County Health Department by email or hard copy, no later than 5:00PM on January 31, 2023. Applications should be addressed to the following:

  1. Decisions will be made by the CGB Scholarship Committee and notifications sent to applicants. Scholarship awards will be made to the recipients no later than the August Board of Health meeting each year.

A completed application consists of:

  1. A completed CGB Scholarship cover page (download one here);

  2. A five-hundred-word essay describing the applicant’s interest and experience in public health and his/her plans for future public health endeavors;

  3. Letters in support of the application by two (2) members of the faculty within the applicant’s undergraduate or graduate program;

  4. An OFFICIAL COPY of your current program transcripts.
