Local Health Departments in Kentucky provide low-cost exams and screening services for breast and cervical cancer as part of the Kentucky Women’s Cancer Screening Program. Women who qualify for the program will also be scheduled for a screening or diagnostic mammogram at a local radiology facility.
If needed, the Health Department can also provide assistance with referrals for additional diagnostic procedures. Women who are diagnosed with breast or cervical cancer may qualify for the Breast and Cervical Cancer Treatment Program, which provides Medicaid coverage for needed cancer treatments. The Health Department helps women apply for this program and provides case management during their care.
The Kentucky Women’s Cancer Screening Program is an income and age-based program. Women who are age 40-64, whose household income is less than 250% of the federal poverty level, and who are uninsured will qualify for the program. Women under age 40 may qualify if they have a family history of breast cancer. Click here for more information about income guidelines.
